Acadia Launches New Virtual Tour

On behalf of Enrolment Services, I am delighted to announce the launch of Acadia’s new Virtual Tour effective December 18, 2017. Also, I would to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to everyone (staff, faculty, and students) who shared their time and expertise for the creation and development of the Virtual Tour. Going forward, this new communications platform will enhance Acadia’s online presence and increase engagement with prospective students, parents, and educators throughout the student recruitment cycle.

Once again, thank you everyone for your wonderful support and assistance with Acadia’s annual enrolment drive.

About the Virtual Tour

Prospective students now have a whole new way of experiencing our campus. Our new Virtual Tour invites students and parents to follow “a day in the life” at Acadia through photos, 360° photospheres, video, and text. The Virtual Tour will be helpful to prospective students who can’t visit Acadia in-person, as well as those who would like a stronger sense of daily life at Acadia.

Unlike many universities’ virtual tours, Acadia’s tour is grouped around slices of life instead of forcing visitors to navigate from building to building. Prospective students are invited to explore scenes of residences, classrooms, fitness, social life, volunteering, and more. Photospheres welcome prospective students to view the inside of spaces like a classroom, gym, Wheelock Dining Hall, residence room, and more, whether the student is using a computer, phone, or VR goggles.

We are grateful to the students, faculty, and staff who contributed their time to appear in new photos and videos. The Virtual Tour website was created in-house by the Technology Services team, working in partnership with Enrolment Services. The project was completed three months ahead of schedule, and will be expanded and updated over time.

The Virtual Tour is now available, and will be incorporated into Enrolment Services websites and communications in December and January.
