Notice: External Email Warning

Starting 2019 November 25, messages from external to Acadia networks will carry a caution message.

The message will read:
CAUTION: This email comes from outside of Acadia. Verify the sender and use caution with any requests, links or attachments.

MORE INFO:
On campus, there have been several examples of phishing emails that appear to be from an Acadia user, but are actually from outside entities. With the increasing rise of sophisticated phishing and cybersecurity threats, the caution solution is one way in which TS can help identify possible threats. The external caution message is like a traffic yield sign; it is a warning to slow down and carefully assess the information in the email.

If you receive an external email, there are several ways to determine the veracity of the email,
- Hover over a URL to see the full web link (take the Domain Doppelganger quiz and learn how to recognize URLs: https://hub.acadiau.ca/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=761)
- Learn to recognize Phishing Email Addresses (HUB article: https://hub.acadiau.ca/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=743)
- Still unsure? Call the sender, send a separate email (rather than reply) or delete the request.

All Acadia employees are automatically enrolled in Cybersecurity & Privacy training through KnowBe4. Access to KnowBe4 can be found through the TS Cyber-Security Website (https://ts.acadiau.ca/security-page.html).
