Security Advisory: Firefox and Thunderbird Browser Vulnerability

Firefox has announced a vulnerability, affecting the Mozilla Firefox Web Browser within all major operating systems/devices, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Firefox has released an updated version of their web browser.

It is likely that Firefox is installed on your Acadia device, even if you do not use it. It is part of the standard Acadia University install.  These instruction should be performed on your personal computer systems in addition to your Acadia issued systems.

ACTION REQUIRED:
Technology Services recommends one of two actions: (i) update Firefox; or (ii) uninstall Firefox.

  1. Update version of Firefox Web Browser

Updates are installed automatically when you close and then re-open your browser.  To verify that you are running the most recent version and to launch a browser update:

Windows: From within the browser, go to Help > About Chrome/Firefox.
Mac: From within the browser, click on the top menu bar title for either Chrome or Firefox > About Google Chrome/Firefox

  1. Uninstall Firefox Web Browser

Uninstall the Firefox from your device.

Windows: System Settings > Add or Remove Programs

Mac:  Application Folder > Drag to Trash
