Network changes to Improve Security

Network changes to Improve Security

Technology Services is reviewing existing practices and making changes in accordance with security standards.

On Tuesday, July 12 at 5:30am, we will be making some changes to the network to further restrict the ability of outside actors to make unsolicited connections to computers inside of the network.

Essentially, the front door is being locked to intruders. Other measures will be implemented as time and resources permit.

This will be transparent in almost all respects. Users who may be impacted have been contacted in advance to minimize the potential for interruption.

There are many threats on the Internet to the security of data. Most of these threats begin with a request for individuals to provide their personal information or login credentials. Please remember that Technology Services (or any credible organization) will not ever ask for personal information.
