Service Notice: Student Access to Teams in Browsers
ISSUE
Student access and functionality within Teams differs based on:
(1) whether you have logged into your Acadia account before trying to enter Teams; and
(2) whether you are using a supported browser.
RESULT
If you join a Teams meeting/class without first logging into your Acadia account, you will appear in the meeting as a guest (external to Acadia).
- Guests must be admitted from the lobby.
- Before you are admitted from the lobby, there is an opportunity to login. However, the login must be completed before you are admitted from the lobby.
SOLUTION(S)
1. Use the Desktop Application
For the most consistent experience, download the desktop application: Download the Teams app.
2. Use a Recommended Browser via Office Portal
- Use Edge or Chrome as a supported browser
- Login into the Office Portal (office365.acadiau.ca) first to access Teams, your Outlook calendar and meeting invitations.
- Join the class/meeting from within the Teams App or the Outlook App.
